* Wear sunscreen. A dangerous misconception is that African-American skin is immune to skin cancer and other forms of sun damage. Black skin also gets cancer. Use sunscreens daily if you are going to be in the sun for more than 20 minutes. Reapply sunscreen every two hours or immediately after swimming or strenuous, sun-exposing activity.
* Adjust your makeup regimen to the summer climate and your outdoor activities. Select powder blushes and eye shadows rather than cream products because they are less irritating and more likely to hold up in hot and humid weather. Learn how to apply natural-looking, barely there makeup for those outdoor occasions. And don't forget to dust with powder to keep down the shine. To achieve a sexy, natural summer evening glow, dust with gold or bronze highlighters. Also consider accenting your lip color with a gold or bronze gloss.
